Now that you can understand the difference between GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED as opposed to GRASS FED|GRAIN FINISHED, it’s time to delve into a few key differences.
GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat has fewer calories and is lower in total fat content. This is because the animal’s diet is more natural and cleaner.
GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat helps promote, support and lower blood sugar levels. In particular, GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED Beef has certain beneficial fatty acids called CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) and can help to prevent several diseases and conditions like obesity and diabetes.
Furthermore, GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED Beef has roughly twice the amount of CLAs than GRAIN FINISHED|GRAIN ASSISTED Beef and those CLAs are unique in that they are the ONLY anticancer nutrients derived from meat, and essential in fighting off Cancer.
GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat contains Sodium, Potassium and Magnesium - Electrolytes that are essential to the body.
One common issue with people who begin a Carnivore/Keto/Paleo diet, those dehydrated from an excessively active lifestyle or if you are suffering through a bout of the dreaded diarrhea, is the lack of Electrolytes that haven’t been replenished once flushed from the body.
Fortunately, GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat has ample amounts of all three essential Electrolytes, so if you are eating GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat, you’re good to go!
GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat contains more healthy fats. Beef in particular provides up to six times more Omega-3 fatty acids and two times the amount of Lutein and Beta-Carotene compared to GRAIN FED|GRAIN ASSISTED Beef.
GRAIN FED|GRAIN ASSISTED Beef on the other hand, contains high levels of Omega-6 fatty acids, which are already eaten in surplus amounts in our Australian diets.
The benefits from increased Omega-3s in your diet:
Alleviates Rheumatoid Arthritis
Omega-3s are highly effective in decreasing all markers of inflammation
Helps with Depression
Researchers have seen an increase in mental well-being by supplementing Omega-3 fatty acids
Helps with Focus
Recent studies conducted show Omega-3s to be a promising alternative to alleviate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) over-stimulant medications
Eating GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat can decrease your risk of heart disease. Clinical evidence concludes a decreased risk of heart disease with an increased consumption of CLAs - those essential fatty acids that are in abundance in GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED meat.
These CLAs can help improve your heart health by:
Antioxidants such as Vitamin E
High amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids
Less unhealthy fats
Lower amounts of bad cholesterol known as LDL Cholesterol
(a marker for cardiovascular disease)
GRASS FED|GRASS FINISHED is 100% more humane!
Not only is GRASS the best diet for the animals’ bodies, but it’s also the most respectful way to treat the animals. Simply put - by keeping GRAIN OUT of their diets, the animals are healthier.
Just like us, when the animals eat better, they feel better, and this is evidenced in the taste and quality of their meat.
Healthy animals in open spaces have a much lower risk of illness and infection so they don’t need the steady diet of Antibiotics that they get in/on “conventional” farms.
The fresh GRASS they eat is clean and never treated with Pesticides. Let’s face it - no one wants to eat that! The natural way is better health for the animals and better health for YOU. The animals stay healthier, and YOU avoid secondhand consumption of Pesticides and unnecessary Antibiotics.
Simply put, Farmers have the option to feed their cattle either GRASS or GRAIN
means cattle are fed GRASS for their ENTIRE life.
There’s NO sneaking in some GRAIN, every now and then.
Technically, all cattle are fed grass for part of their life.
Cattle were designed to eat and digest it, but many farms (we’ll call them “conventional”)
use or supplement GRAIN feed (aka “GRAIN ASSISTED)
to help the animals gain weight, bringing higher dollars at sale.
Now feeding animals GRAIN is like a diet of Coke and Cookies.
While that may sound tempting, a diet of Coke and Cookies
is no better for animals than it is for us humans.
On many “conventional” farms, cattle move to GRAIN early!
Even though they are initially fed grass,
many are fed GRAIN in the last few months of their lives,
ingesting Antibiotics, Hormones, Growth Promotants and goodness knows what else.
cattle eat grass for the ENTIRETY of their lives, free to roam on lush pastures.
They get the full benefits of eating their naturally designed diet
and those natural health benefits are then passed on to you through consumption.
Both conventional and Grass Fed|Grass Finished farms
can technically and legally use the term “Grass Fed” in their advertising,
but unfortunately, thousands of people are being duped into believing that they are receiving
Grass Fed|Grass Finished meat when in fact, they are not!
It’s ESSENTIAL to always look for 100%
The meat is leaner and healthier, comprising less Fat deposited throughout -v- Grain Fed or Gain Finished, and it’s bursting with natural flavour..
It not only tastes better - it’s better for your health, for the animals and better for the land,
improving soil health and cutting down on nasty chemicals. Plus the cattle are happier
roaming about, doing what Mother Nature intended them to do, and that shows in the
They say “You are what you Eat”
When it comes to buying meat, you have two main options:
your local Butcher or the nearby Supermarket.
While many folks assume that shopping at a Butcher is pricier,
Plus, there are tons of perks at your local Butcher!
Here are five reasons to ditch the Supermarket and head to your Butcher instead:
Think about the Meat section at your Supermarket. Meat just sitting there waiting for someone to buy it.
Ever considered where the Meat came from or how long it’s been in the Supermarket meat cabinet?
There’s no comparison to the
fresh, quality meat
that you’ll find at your Butcher.
When you buy Meat from a Butcher it’s fresh, often cut right in front of you.
It hasn’t been sitting around in a factory or plant.
It hasn’t been in the back of a Truck doing excessive delivery miles.
It hasn’t been sitting on the display shelf for days on end.
The next time you find yourself in the Grocery Store Meat aisle, take a moment amidst the variety of cuts and labels. It might seem like your options are abundant, but the reality is often far less diverse.
A handful of Corporations hold significant influence over Australian Meat supply. This consolidation of power raises questions about how our meat is raised, its environmental impact and the choices truly available to you as consumers.
A good Butcher will know where their Meat has come from, the conditions in which it was raised and the environment in which it has lived.
Afterall, your Butcher is the one who orders the meat that they sell.
Your Butcher is fully qualified and can artfully and skillfully butcher, slice and dice the Meat that they sell.
Your Butcher is the one who stands behind the product they sell.
. If you buy from Meat@Landsborough you know that you are getting Meats that are
We believe it’s the kind of Meat you can
feel good about eating and serving to your family
and we certainly feel good about supplying it to you.
Grocery Stores stock a bit of everything, which means they limit the types of cuts of Meat they carry.
But at a Butcher, the sky’s the limit!
From your classic cuts to specialty items like Beef Tongue, Tallow or Chicken Livers
there’s always something new to try.
If you’re feeling adventurous, a Butcher is the place to go.
From budget, bulk and premium lines, we have it all
Want to try a specialty meat but don’t know how to cook it?
Not sure what steak cut is best for your upcoming barbeque?
Your Butcher’s got your back
No matter what your level of expertise, we can point you in the right direction.
If you’re worried about costs or extending your budget, we can suggest alternative cuts that save you money without skimping on flavour.
When you factor in quality, you’re getting serious value for your buck!
Buying from your Butcher has its perks, and building a relationship with your Butcher is one.
Smaller, independently owned Butcher shops have to compete with the big Supermarket chains, so it’s in your Butcher’s best interest to give you top-quality premium products and
top-notch customer service

We’re currently researching the status of production and the implementation of Rumin8 Feed Supplement within Australia, which as we understand, is only in trial phase at present.
Most people will have heard or read about the implementation of Bovaer10, a feed supplement that has and continues to be introduced to a majority of Australian Feedlot GRAIN FED cattle and some privately owned Grass Fed, but GRAIN ASSISTED grazing cattle. We’ve received numerous enquiries and have been asked for our input and opinions.
3-NOP, which has been patented and commercialised by Swedish Dutch Company DSM is known as Bovaer10, a Methane Inhibitor for production animals such as cattle, sheep and goats. It is a formulation that consists of silicon dioxide (60% w/w), propylene glycol and 3-nitroxypropoanol (10% w/w), that is designed to quickly break down and decompose fermented food in the ruminant’s digestive system, to avoid the exhalation (breathing out) or eructation (burping) of Enteric (small intestines) Methane.
Cows in particular, produce Enteric Methane as a byproduct of their digestion. Their complex digestive systems allow them to break down plant materials that humans can’t digest. In their rumen (first stomach), microbes ferment the partially digested food, producing Enteric Methane and other byproducts, which are then released through the animal’s exhalation or eructation (burping).
Enteric Methane is a major contributor to global warming. It’s the primary source of greenhouse gas emissions from animal agriculture, suggested to account for up to 30% of global anthropogenic Methane emissions.
Meat & Livestock Authority Australia - 3 December 2024
“Food safety and care for the environment are our top concerns. Customers can rest assured that their favourite beef is safe to consume as Bovaer10 DOES NOT pass into meat products.
MLA undertakes scientific research and development studies to ensure Australian consumers have access to high quality, safe red meat that is good for them and produced sustainably.”
Produced in white powder form, Bovaer10 is currently being fed in pellet form in a majority of Australian GRAIN FED Feedlots and GRAIN ASSISTED grazing cattle, to the ratio of less than a quarter of a teaspoon of Bovaer10 to 15-20kg of cattle feed.
A world-first system to deliver Bovaer10 to backgrounding cattle has shown how the feed additive can reduce Methane emissions up to a suggested 30% (agricultural sector) and, just like GRAIN fed, increase cattle weight gains aka “productivity”.
The economics are stacking up! The cost of using the Additive has more than paid for itself in the value of Methane reductions, monetary benefits for Australian Carbon Credits claimed by Farmers and forced weight gain for increased productivity, bringing the Farmers higher dollars at sale.
The Additive when handled, should be considered corrosive to the eyes, a skin irritant and potentially harmful by inhalation.
Is this Supplement safe, considering there is no evidence of its long-term effects on either human or animal?
As feed preparation is mixed in bulk in Feedlots, how comfortable are we that each cow is receiving no more, or no less, than the required dose?
Can we feel comfortable not knowing whether the meat we are eating is a result of the correct Bovaer10 dosage?
What is the margin for human error?
Is there a record of which Farmers/Primary Producers are feeding Bovaer10?
Who is governing the use of Bovaer10 by small range, private Primary Producers aka Paddock to Plate/Farm to Fridge, On-line and Community Market sellers?
What systems have been put in place to ensure transparency of these small range, private Primary Producers, in particular those who advertise Grass Fed but fail to disclose that the cattle are GRAIN ASSISTED or GRAIN FINISHED and have had possible exposure to Bovaer10?
Further, how do we know whether NO more than the required dosage of Bovaer10 has been administered to cattle by these direct Paddock to Plate/Farm to Fridge, On-line or Community Market sellers, in an attempt to further bulk up cattle weights to bring them more $$ at sale?
Will meat from Farmer/Wholesaler be clearly marked as being supplemented with Bovaer10?
Methane suppressing Supplements have the potential to be a really useful tool to reduce agricultural emissions, but there are crucial questions about how these products work, their long-term effectiveness and, most importantly, their impact on human and animal health and welfare.
Meat@Landsborough WILL NOT source or supply meat that has been supplemented with Bovaer10 and we have advised our Wholesalers accordingly.
We will continue to search for the answers and keep you informed.
Unless it becomes mandatory by the Australian Government to utilise Bovaer10 in ALL Australian Cattle, you can trust that we will continue to deliver the best in GRASS FED and GRASS FINISHED Premium Aussie meats, FREE of Bovaer10 and any other nasties!
The choice is yours. Be thoughtful! Be educated!
We’ve had numerous enquiries about the use of mRNA Vaccine in Australian Livestock and in particular, whether any Meat we sell has been subject to injection.
The simple answer is NO!!
Many Australian Government bodies have received these same enquiries in response to misinformation circulating on the Internet, such as articles implying that the Australian Government is advocating to vaccinate livestock for Lumpy Skin Disease with mRNA vaccines and that it is not safe to consume animal products derived from these vaccinated livestock.
These statements are FALSE!!
There are NO mRNA vaccines authorised for use in animals in Australia and currently, the Australian Government is NOT advocating to vaccinate livestock within Australia.
As always, our focus remains on providing our customers with the finest quality, most naturally tasting and healthiest meat, that meets our stringent ethical and sustainability standards.
Unless it becomes mandatory, you can trust that Meat@Landsborough will continue to deliver the best GRASS FED and GRASS FINISHED Premium Aussie meats available.
